It's first Friday in Winston-Salem, and you're torn.
On Fourth Street, right out on the street, there's live jazz and a couple thousand people, the place just hopping. A few blocks away, a different kind of hop: the First Friday Gallery Hop, in the Downtown Arts District. Studios, galleries, and shops, open to explore. There are lots of people there, too, and music, and food and drink.
You cannot choose between them, so you do the sensible
thing. You decide there is time to do both.

You would
expect North Carolina's "City of the Arts" to have a wide variety
of galleries and fine craft shops, and of course you would be right.
When you are hopping your way from star to star, it can help to have a guide, and that's why we're here. To help you find your way around our gallery galaxy, we've divided the sky (play along, here) into two constellations, the Downtown Arts District galleries, and more area galleries.
