SciWorks is the place to explore the mysteries and wonders of our planet in the planetarium; stroll down a nature trail through an environmental park; climb inside a 20-foot tall hardwood tree; and enjoy interactive exhibits like the coastal lab tank and HealthWorks. "Tot Spots" also allow younger children to get involved.

The Old Salem Children's Museum is a fun space for children ages 4-9 to play and explore while learning about the past.

For an adventurous and imaginative trip, visit the Children's Museum of Winston-Salem. This museum is designed around the themes of storytelling and children's books, and is targeted to an audience of birth through fifth grade.

Krispy Kreme, the doughnut giant founded in 1937, calls Winston-Salem home. Watch for the flashing "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign.

Tanglewood Park, a 1,100-acre county park, features an arboretum and rose garden, plus a championship golf course, horseback riding, tennis and canoe/paddleboat rentals.

Wake Forest University Museum of Anthropology's permanent exhibits consist of cultural objects from the Americas, Africa, Asia and the Pacific.

The Sawtooth Center for Visual Art, located in a renovated textile mill and named for its distinctive roofline, has three art galleries and offers art classes.

Horne Creek Living Historical Farm demonstrates rural life in the early 1900s during the transition from fruit to tobacco crops.

Mount Airy, the hometown of Andy Griffith and the inspiration for the fictional Mayberry in "The Andy Griffith Show," is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A perfect setting to listen to bluegrass music.

Pilot Mountain, The Town of Pilot Mountain is home to Pilot Mountain State Park, which is a remnant of the ancient Sauratown Mountains.  Today thousands visit our rapidly growing town and state park.  Admission to the park is free with an elevation of 2420 feet.
