Wear comfortable shoes. Our many museums, art galleries and shops will inspire you to walk quite a distance.
Winston-Salem is a casual town. Even at some of our fancier restaurants, business casual attire will suffice. However, if you bring your tux or a fancy dress, you can wear it to the symphony on Tuesday nights year-round.
The city has more than 3,500 acres of park space. Bring your favorite gear to run, power walk, play soccer, swim, mountain bike, play tennis or golf, or just enjoy the great outdoors.

Winston-Salem experiences four distinct seasons.
Summer
During the summer, the whole family will feel comfortable in shorts and a tee or polo shirt.
Fall
The fall is a perfect time of year. Warm
days will change into cool evenings. Don't
forget a sweater or sweatshirt. It's perfect
weather to watch the leaves change or to take
in a football game at one of our many area
high schools or universities.
Winter
In winter, temperatures vary. Bring warm
winter clothing appropriate for the season
and use the layering technique. There is
always the possibility of frost on the windshield
in early morning hours. What's
nice though, here in the Piedmont, usually
by 10 a.m., the temperatures rise to melt
the previous night's precipitation.
Spring
Spring is a lush time of year when the grass is a vivid green, and the tulips and daffodils are in bloom. This time of year, we transition from cool mornings to warm days. A light jacket is usually an essential. Rain in the spring is not unusual, so you might want to bring along an umbrella. |
